Dr Darryn Russell

The whakapapa above recognises Darryn’s connection to Ngāi Tahu ki Ōtākou. Darryn’s experience spans 40 years in senior executive roles at Ngāi Tahu, Universities of Otago and Canterbury and more recently as a Chief Executive of a PSGE in the Hawkes Bay. Darryn also holds directorships in Retara Holdings Ltd, Health Hawkes Bay, Tapuwae Roa, Ipurangi Aotearoa and Chairperson of DOVE Hawkes. Darryn has also held prior governance roles across iwi entities, National Crown bodies, regulatory bodies and community groups.

Darryn’s personal and professional passion is iwi development, underpinned from a community work backgroundwhich has informed his undergraduate, masters through to Doctoral qualifications.
